- Kontakt dermatit genellikle alerjik reaksiyon sonucu oluşmaktadır. Kontakt dermatit sonucu ayak şişmesi ve ayakta oluşan kırmızı lekeler genellikle cilde bazı kimyasalların ya da alerjenlerin teması sonucu oluşmaktadır. Kontakt dermatit vakaları genellikle alerjeni ortadan kaldırınca düzelir.
- Çok sık karşılaşılmayan bir sorun olan bazı cilt kanserlerinde de şişme kırmızı benek oluşumu gözlenebilmektedir.
Tüm bu rahatsızların dışında bazı hastalıklar direk olarak ayakta şişme ve kırmızı benek oluşumuna sebep olmasa da sekonder olarak yani dolaylı yoldan buna sebep olabilmektedir. Özellikle;
