Balık yedikten sonra yumurta yenir mi karşımıza sık çıkan sorulardan birisidir. Balık tüketimi sonrasında birçok kişi endişeye kapılabilir. Bu endişenin sebebi balığın gıda zehirlenmesine yol açma ihtimalidir. Çoğu kişi balık tükettikten sonra süt ve süt ürünleri tüketmemesi gerektiği konusunda önyargılıdır. Bu düşünce tarzı tamamen yanlış değildir ama eksik bir bilgi olarak bilinmektedir. Balığın taze olması halinde balıktan zehirlenme ihtimali yoktur. Balık yedikten sonra ya da öncesinde süt ürünleri tüketmenin bir zararı yoktur. Çoğu kişi aksini düşünse bile süt ürünleri ve balık peş peşe tüketildiğinde hemen gıda zehirlenmesine yol açmaz. Eğer tüketilen besinlerden herhangi biri taze değil ise bu durumda kişi bu tarz besinleri birlikte tüketmekten kaçınmalıdır. Hem süt ürünlerinin hem de balığın taze olması durumunda ise hiçbir sakınca yoktur. Balık tüketimi yapmadan birkaç saat öncesinde ya da sonrasında taze süt ve süt ürünleri tüketimi yapabilir, zehirlenme riski olmadan lezzetini tadabilirsiniz.

Balık tüketimi yaparken dikkat edilmesi gereken bazı noktalar vardır. Özellikle et tüketimi sonrasında gıda zehirlenmelerine sıkça rastlandığından dolayı bu konuda endişeler artmıştır. Balık tüketimi yapacak kişilerin şu noktalara dikkat etmesi oldukça önemlidir:
- Balık tüketimi yapacak kişilerin balığı mutlaka taze olanından seçmiş olması gereklidir. Balığın taze olduğunu anlamak ise sanıldığı kadar zor değildir. Kişi sürekli olarak aldığı ve güvendiği bir balıkçıdan taze balık alabilir ya da balığı inceleyerek kendisi taze balık tercihi yapabilir. Kötü kokan, derisinde pul pul dökülmeler olan ve eti iyice yumuşamış olan balıklardan uzak durulmalıdır, koku özellikle ayırt edici özelliklerden birisidir.
- Balık tüketimi için kullanılacak yağ ve un seçimi de çok önemlidir. Balık için en uygun yağ çeşitlerinden birisi fındık yağıdır. Bunun dışında un seçiminde ise genellikle mısır unu tercihi yapılması daha uygun olacaktır.
- Balık tüketimi yapacak kişilerin dikkat etmesi gereken diğer bir konu ise kılçıktır. Çoğu kişi kılçıkları zararlı olduğu için balıkları temizleyerek yer. Küçük balıkların kılçığının temizlenmeden, balık ile birlikte tüketilmesi çok faydalıdır. Büyük balıkların boğulma tehlikesine karşı kılçıkları temizlenmeli ve sonrasında kızartılmalıdır.
- Balıkları çok fazla pişirmek içindeki proteinlerin ölmesine neden olabilir, bu nedenle balıkları pişirirken çok fazla kıtır kıtır olmamasına dikkat edilmelidir.
