Mümkünse patatesleri başka sebze ve meyvelerle bir arada muhafaza etmemelisiniz. Özellikle meyve ve sebzelerin olgunlaşmasında salgılanan etilen gazını bolca salgılayan elma, armut, muz gibi meyvelerden muhafaza ortamında uzak tutulmalıdır. Eğer aynı ortamda muhafaza edilirse salgılanan gazdan ötürü patatesler kısa sürede çürümeye başlayacaktır.
