- Islanan deri ayakkabıların yeniden giyilmeden önce sıcak bir yerde kurutulmasına da önem verilmelidir. Islak ayakkabılar hem mantar vb. sağlık sorunlarının oluşmasına neden olacak hem kötü bir koku yayacak hem de ayakkabının çabucak bozulmasına neden olacaktır.
- Deri ayakkabıların mümkünse en alt derece ile makinede yıkanması gereklidir. Deri ayakkabı yıkamak için en ideal derece 30 derecedir.
- Deri ayakkabı tamirlerinde kişinin kendi başına işlem yapmak yerine ayakkabıyı iyi bir ayakkabı tamircisine götürmesi gerekmektedir.
- Deri ayakkabı yıkandıktan sonra kurutulurken çamaşır makinesinde kurutmak yerine açık havada kurutma yapılmasına önem verilmelidir.
- Deri ayakkabıların iyi bir boya ile düzenli biçimde boyanması da yapılması gereken bakım işlemleri arasında yer almaktadır.

Deri ayakkabı üzerinde belirli bir zaman sonra çeşitli nedenlere bağlı olarak çizikler oluşabilir. Bu gibi lekeler ayakkabıya zarar vermesinin yanı sıra kötü ve eski bir görünüme de yol açmaktadır. Ayakkabı üzerinde oluşacak olan çizikler şu yöntemleri kullanarak tamir edilebilir:
- Deri ayakkabı çizikleri için en etkili yöntem doğal bir yöntem olan zeytinyağıdır. Bu işlem için zeytinyağını bir beze dökün ve bu bez ile ayakkabıyı yavaşça ovun. Bu işlemi deriden yapılmış diğer ürünler için de kullanabilirsiniz.
- Deri ayakkabı üzerinde oluşacak olan çizikleri vazelin krem ile de ovalayarak kısa süre içinde tamir edebilirsiniz.
