- İçinde bolca mineral vardır. Tereyağında bolca manganez, çinko, krom, bakır ve selenyum; kuvvetli bir antioksidan olarak bulunur. Tereyağı iyot açısından da zengindir.
- Kanserle mücadele eder. Beta-karotenin ve A vitamininin yüksek olması, tereyağının kolorektal ve prostat kanseri ile mücadele ettiğini kanıtlar. Yapılan araştırmalara göre tereyağının meme kanserine de iyi geldiği ortaya konmuştur.
- Kemiklerin güçlenmesinde rol oynar. A ve D vitaminleri vücutta kalsiyumu emmekle görevli vitaminlerdir. Kemiklerin güçlenmesi için de kalsiyuma ihtiyaç vardır. Tereyağını yediğimizde tereyağındaki A ve D vitaminlerini vücudumuza almış oluruz ve vitaminler de kalsiyum emilimine yardımcı olur.

Aslında gerçek tereyağının çiğ sütten yapılması gerekir. Soğuk bir yerde 1-2 gün yani 24-48 saat bekletilmesi gerekir. Zaman geçtikçe bekletilen sütün üzerinde krema oluşacaktır ve tereyağı bu krema ile elde edilir. Bu doğal yöntemdir.

Fakat bu yöntemi biraz değiştirip içindeki vitaminlerin değerini düşürebiliyorlar. Normal şartlar altında 1 kg tereyağı elde etmek için 15-20 kg arası süte ihtiyaç duyulur.
